Timmy Sneaks is a Malden-born artist who has spent the last decade rising to the top of pop wall art in Boston. He was recently featured in the Boston Man magazine article “Sneaking To The Top: The Timmy Sneaks Story.” The article was published on May 27, 2022, and illustrates his artistic ascent.
The piece begins with his childhood hockey days and close relationship with his family and progresses to describe his work in tattoo shops. His hard work and dedication paved the way for his current success in mixed media art as Timmy Sneaks, the artist, culminating in him hand-delivering custom artwork to professional athletes and celebrities like NBA Star Grant Williams and Rob Kardashian.
Early Days of Timmy Sneaks, Tattoo Artist
After graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustration, Sneaks initially worked as a tattoo artist while saving money to pursue his real passion for making art. After leaving his position as a tattoo artist, Sneaks spent the year leading up to Art Basel wholly committed to pursuing art full-time.
The combination of his own determination and persistence met with an opportunity from Spectrum Miami, and he showcased authentic Timmy Sneaks art at Art Basel, Miami Beach, in 2015. Timmy Sneaks art for sale at Art Basel proved to be the launching pad that would catapult his career and prove to him that he could find success as a full-time artist.
Journey With Pellas Gallery
Alfredo Pellas, co-owner of the Pellas Gallery, one of the top home decor stores in Boston, shared a strong connection with Timmy Sneaks art and is quoted in the Boston Man article. This is how Alfredo Pellas described Timmy Sneaks:
What you search for in an artist constantly pushing the limits, refining and honing his craft yet maintaining that power where you can see any of his works and immediately say, “That’s a Timmy Sneaks art piece.”
Last year, the Pellas Gallery offered Timmy Sneaks his first solo art show, which was on display from May 14 through July 1, 2021. When asked about his solo exhibition named Between Forms at the Pellas Gallery and the inspiration behind it, here’s what Timmy Sneaks had to say:
Pellas Gallery and I have gathered photographs throughout my career, exploring my long fascination with water as a medium that naturally reshapes form. These are photographs across several series that explore transformation across time, movement, and image. Putting them together for Between Forms creates a new dialogue in my body of work, which is constantly evolving and looking for both a sense of the ethereal and timelessness.
Following up on the success of his 2021 show, the Pellas Gallery and Timmy Sneaks are collaborating again on an exhibition titled “Love Me, Love Me Not,” scheduled from July 21 to September 17, 2022. We will keep sharing news and updates regarding the latest Timmy Sneaks Art Show on the Pellas Gallery website and our Instagram page, @pellasgallery.
