This chart indicates the astronomical luni-solar calendar calculation, such as the distribution and movement of celestial bodies in the universe. Book of the Later Han Dynasty. Zhang Heng Biography has astronomical detailed explanations about the distribution and operation of celestial bodies such as the sun, moon, and stars in the universe. The ancients also included physiologic phenomena such as wind, clouds, rain, dew, frost, and snow in the astronomical scope. In the dictionary, the chart is interpreted as “the image expressed by painting, such as pictures, patterns, atlas and illustrated handbook”. The basic religious doctrine of Buddhism preaches that “sentient reincarnation has six paths, just like a wheel without an end”, that is, if all sentient beings do not seek “liberation”, they will always live and die in the karma causal circle “six paths” of heaven, man, Asura, hell, hungry ghost and brute, just like a wheel. This Tangga Adopts the painting method of the mandala, with five concentric circles as the center and reflects the appearance of large earth, large water, large air, large wind and large fire. Many different planets are drawn in an orderly manner and different animals represent those planets which are moving on various orbits in the universe. This Thangka reflects the world view of Tibetan Buddhism, that is, the world view of Mandala culture.
